The company HEUTHES have launched a new type of USB token on the market that is a cryptographic protection of the work in the ISOF system (www.isof.pl).
The communication security with the server of the ISOF system is guaranteed by the SSl 3.0 and TSL protocols. The ISOF service also requires that the client identifies himself by means of a private key, the public part of which is certified by the HEUTES authorisation centre (AC) and registered in the server of the ISOF system. All attempts to connect via the display without the key’s access being authorised are blocked.
The tokens used by HEUTES are universal. The unqualified certificates produced by the HEUTES AC can be used as a digital signature of documents, email and invoices. The ITSEC cryptographic token is a physical device inserted into the USB with a built-in system of processors that allow the production of public and private keys (the latter remain in the token) and their certification, just as a digital signature.
The general characteristics and advantages of the USB token are as follows: • Impossibility of copying; • Impossibility of working on just any computer with the ISOF; • The use of the most advanced technologies, used in the smart cards (with chip), but unlike these, they do not require a costly reader thanks to the USB interface; • The knowledge of the PIN code is required each time the ISOF is opened; • All cryptographic operations on the private key are made in the token making external interception impossible; • The resistance against accidental destruction, eliminating possible faults on the hard disc or the need to reinstall Windows operating system; • Attempts to open cause the destruction of the token; • Operating without battery with power supplied via the USB port; • Easy handling (the size of a key ring). The new type of keys have greater protection and perfected microcircuit. The User’s computer must have the following requisites: Microsoft Windows 98SE/Me/NT/2000/XP or Linux, one free USB port (1.1 or 2.0), drivers (supplied on a CD along with the token or downloaded from WWW). The token works both with the Microsoft IE 6.0 display as well as with Firefox 2.0. Type of token: CryptoIdentity ITSEC, Chip: Infineon SLE 66CX322P, ITSEC E4 high/CC certified. Operating system: Siemens CardOS M4.01(a), ITSEC-E4+ certified. The service of the standards: ISO 7816 3-4, PC/SC, S/MIME, IPSec/IKE, PKCS#11 rel. 2.1, Microsoft CryptoAPI. The memory: 32 KB. The data transfer rate: 36 Kbit/s. The token is available from HEUTHES at a cost of 120 PLN (approx. 32 euro) each VAT excluded.
